People Are Sharing Their Favorite Wine Emergency Hacks, And The Wino in Me Couldn’t Be More Grateful

Can't find the corkscrew? Don't panic, just reach for a shoe.

... Or a key.

... Or a lighter.

... Or a bike pump.

Karen wants ice cubes for her wine? Have some frozen grapes prepped to make the request look less cringe-worthy.

Forgot to put the wine in the fridge? Chill, be cool, and go grab a paper towel or dish linen.

Dampen the towel or linen and wrap it around the bottle. Pop it in your freezer for about 15 minutes, and voila, cold wine. Pro tip: Set a timer so you don't forget it. Especially if you're trying this with sparkling wine, it will explode in the freezer if you leave it in there too long.

... Or, reach for the salt.

Pouring salt into an ice bucket will melt the cubes and bring down the freezing temperature of water, instantly creating a frigid bath for your bottle.

Did you have some cork break into the bottle? Using coffee filters to decant the wine is the a.m. solution to your p.m. problem.

(Just make sure the filter is unbleached so that it doesn't adversely affect the flavor of the wine)

Aerate cheap wine in a blender to make it taste better.

(apparently a 30 second spin is all it takes)

Spilled red wine on your carpet or rug? Go ahead and reach for that box of salt again.

Blot as much as you can with a towel then completely cover the stain with salt and let it dry completely. Later, vacuum up the salt and admire the magical results.
